....TWELVE DAYS IN CLARK COUNTY.... the corps of discovery's journey through clark county, washington

This piece was done for the the Clark County Historical Museum in celebration of the 200 year anniversary of the Lewis & Clark Expedition to the Pacific. The activity book was written by historian Barbara J. Kubik and was approved curriculum for every school district in the county. I did all the illustration and layout work. All the illustrations were thoroughly researched for historical accuracy.
The cover piece was a particular challenge as we wanted something that looked like an actual journal but could be printed in a paperback format. At first we considered Tromp l'oeil, but rejected that based on time limitations. The cover is a wrap around that was completely digitally constructed. Each element was scanned separately and then joined together in Photoshop. Even the ink blots were a separate scan. It was challenging and fun and I think the results are fabulous.

Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge BIRDFEST

I developed these characters and provided the Wildlife Refuge with a completely original T-shirt design for the children who visit the refuge during the annual Birdfest celebration.

A Joshua Tree Named Lily

These are pen and ink/watercolors done for the Education Department of Joshua Tree National Park in southern California. This educational piece depicts the life of a Joshua Tree and the eco-system it thrives and survives in.

And Your Point Is?

Illustrated for author and educator Deborah Rodney-Pex for America's Clean Water Foundation.

the Murky Water Caper

This title was illustrated for the the Association of State and Interstate Water Pollution Control Administrator's (whew!) and America's Clean Water Foundation. It is a sly private-eye spoof written by Deborah Rodney-Pex. The snoop in this story is looking for sources of water pollution. It is cleverly written and a fun learning tool for kids. Other educational titles I illustrated for the Clean Water Foundation include And Your Point Is? The Story of Point and Nonpoint Source Pollution and What is a Watershed, both written by Rodney-Pex.
I illustrated this piece in B&W line drawings with washes for grayscale in 2001.
